Default Synchronize existing User from vB to Modx - 07-29-2008, 01:49 PM

Hello,

the ModX - vBulltin synchronisation Script functions marvelously. I installed and successfully to run brought ModX and vBulletin. However registrations are synchronized only again. Is there a possibility the existing registrations to synchronize also out vBulletin to ModX? Thank you for the assistance. And a BIG Sorry for my BAD english. Thx again...

Stefan

Unfortunatelly, it is impossible. MODx and vBulletin use different ways of password hashing. MODx encrypts typed password only once (with md5 function), while vBulletin encrypts password twice. Of course, passwords has been stored into database as they hashes. So, there is a way to transmit MODx users into vBulletin (not by this script, this is separate big task), but the counter-side action is impossible at all. The only solution is to reset all vBulletin passwords.

Hmm, cannot say something, we have not such problem. The situation needs to be solved "in-place", at your site. If you agree to give to us any needed passwords, please, contact us via private messages.

I am having the same problem. I am designing a website for a client which already have a few thousand forum users but no website. I have created a quick template in modx to test and you integration works a treat for new users but obviously without copying them all into modx only the newly registered will be able to login.

I don't have a problem with the password reset as long as when they change it it will add them to modx.

Is this how the login script works ?
